Meet Eric. With his wonderfully tall ears, magnificent handlebar moustache and monocle, he possesses the unmistakable air of a hare who has stories to tell. And, as it happens, he does.

Eric is one of the two original characters at the heart of Canadian artist and author Jessica Hiemstra's Eric + Eloise. Inspired by Scandinavian folktales and Jessica's childhood in the forests of Canada, the first story follows the unlikely friendship between Eric the hare and Eloise the fox—a friendship that eventually grew into an entire woodland "Framily."

The books that followed brought more friends and more seasons into their forest, but Eric remained part of it all. He appears again in While the Forest is Sleeping, gathering with friends on New Year's Eve, and returns with the whole Framily in the springtime story Charlie in Spring.

In sculptural form, Eric becomes the sort of object that makes a room feel as though someone interesting lives there.

Finished in warm antique gold and dressed with all the eccentric dignity we've come to expect from him, the bust transforms a beloved storybook character into a small collected treasure for the home. Jessica's bust collection was created specifically to bring the Eric + Eloise friends to life on the tabletop, each character dressed in their own wonderfully distinctive way.
