Before there was a Framily, there were Eric and Eloise.

A hare and a fox might not seem the most obvious of companions. But theirs is the unlikely friendship at the heart of Canadian artist and author Jessica Hiemstra's original Eric + Eloise story—and the beginning from which an entire woodland world eventually grew.

Here, the two friends meet again.

Eric appears at one end of this beautifully aged metallic bowl, his unmistakable ears rising above the rim. At the other is Eloise, while sculptural branches seem to grow beneath them, quietly connecting one side to the other.

There is something especially lovely about seeing them this way.

Not simply beside one another, but part of the same vessel.

We brought the Friendship Bowl into Meadows & Muse because the story behind it feels very close to something we believe: the objects we choose for our homes can hold more than function. They can remind us of stories, relationships and small truths we want to keep near.

And perhaps Eric and Eloise offer one worth remembering.

Sometimes the most meaningful connections are the ones we never could have predicted.

This is a piece made for gathering.

Place it at the centre of a dining or coffee table, on a console or sideboard, or somewhere you can appreciate Eric and Eloise peeking from opposite ends. Its sculptural form is charming left entirely on its own, but we particularly love the idea of allowing it to gather a little of the Meadow.

Fill it loosely with preserved Helichrysum flower heads, seed pods or other small dried botanical treasures. Rather than arranging them too carefully, let them tumble naturally into the bowl as though they have been collected during a walk through the garden.

It could also become a beautiful resting place for seasonal finds—acorns and seed heads in Autumn, tiny pinecones in Winter, or other natural treasures gathered throughout the year.
