There are woodland visitors. And then there is Emerson.

Perched in his top hat with an extraordinary plume rising above him and that wonderfully long tail cascading below, Emerson has all the bearing of a gentleman who knows he has made an entrance.

He comes to us from Canadian artist and author Jessica Hiemstra's Eric + Eloise storybook world—a forest filled with an unlikely and ever-growing "Framily" of animals. Emerson joins the characters in Charlie in Spring, part of the whimsical woodland world Jessica created from her affection for animals, storytelling and the forests of her Canadian childhood.

As a wall mount, Emerson becomes especially sculptural. His detailed feathers and elongated silhouette turn an otherwise overlooked stretch of wall into a place for discovery, while his warm antique-gold finish gives him the feeling of an object collected over time.

We brought Emerson into Meadows & Muse because he possesses that wonderful balance we are always drawn to: nature treated with admiration, but never without imagination.

He is handsome. A little eccentric. And dressed considerably better than most pheasants we've encountered in the Meadow.
