There is something about a rose that never quite loses its ability to surprise us. Michael and I have spent countless hours among flowers, yet we still find ourselves stopping to admire the way a rose opens.

The outer petals begin to relax. The inner petals remain closely gathered. And somewhere between the two, there is that beautiful moment when the flower seems to be holding its breath before revealing everything. That's what drew us to Red Velvet Rose.

Its petals have been sculpted with an extraordinary attention to detail. Some curl gently outward, while others overlap and fold around the centre, creating the wonderfully intricate form that makes a rose so recognizable. And then there's the colour. A rich, romantic red that brings to mind the velvety petals of a garden rose at the height of its beauty.

We were equally taken with its generous proportions. At six inches in diameter, this candle has the presence of a botanical sculpture rather than an ordinary household candle. It doesn't need a vase of flowers beside it. It is the flower.

The mild champagne rose fragrance feels like a lovely finishing touch, adding a gentle suggestion of roses without taking attention away from the beauty of the form.

The Beauty of Natural Soy Wax

Natural soy wax may develop a subtle frosted appearance over time. This is a normal characteristic of the material.

If frosting appears, gently wipe the surface with a soft cloth to refresh the appearance of the deep red wax. Take care around the delicate sculpted petals.

Candle Care & Safety

Red Velvet Rose is a decorative botanical candle designed to be admired as a sculptural piece. If you choose to light it, please follow these precautions:

• Trim the wick to approximately 6 mm (¼ inch) before each lighting.
• Place on a substantial, flat, heat-resistant tray or stone plate large enough to contain dripping or pooled wax.
• Burn for a maximum of two hours at a time to help preserve the outer petals for as long as possible.
• Keep away from drafts, curtains, greenery and other flammable materials.
• Never leave a burning candle unattended.
• Keep out of reach of children and pets.
• Allow the candle and melted wax to cool completely before handling.

Because of its generous size and intricate sculptural form, the wax may melt and flow beyond the original shape as the candle burns.
