Meet Eugene. Although, somehow, an introduction hardly seems necessary. Those extraordinary antlers tend to announce his arrival long before anything else does.

Then you notice the monocle. The chain. The beautifully buttoned waistcoat. And the wonderfully dignified expression of a moose who appears quite certain he belongs exactly where he has been placed.

Eugene is part of Canadian artist and author Jessica Hiemstra's Eric + Eloise woodland Framily and appears in the third story, Charlie in Spring, alongside the other characters who have gradually gathered around Eric and Eloise. Jessica's storybook world was inspired by Scandinavian folktales and her childhood among the forests of Canada—a world she describes as celebrating friendship, love, wonder and the animals of the forest.

As a bust, Eugene becomes particularly splendid.

Finished in warm antique gold and standing an impressive 18 inches high, he is the largest character in Jessica's bust collection. His broad sculptural antlers create a striking silhouette, while all those wonderfully eccentric details prevent him from becoming too serious.
