Some vessels seem content to hold the flowers. Clara appears to join them.

Her sculptural sides rise in long, softly curved folds, gathering and separating as they reach an irregular rim that feels almost as though it has begun to open.

We discovered Clara while choosing vessels for The Turning, our Autumn Studio Capsule, and there was something about her movement that felt particularly suited to a season in transition.

Autumn is rarely still.

Grasses bend. Leaves curl. Seed heads lean on stems that have softened over the season. Flowers lose some of their symmetry and become, somehow, more interesting because of it.

Clara seemed to understand.

Her quiet white finish gives all that changing texture somewhere to rest, while her sculptural form means she doesn't need an abundant arrangement to feel complete. At approximately 9½ inches tall and 8¼ inches wide, she has enough presence for a generous gathering, but we find her equally compelling with only a few carefully chosen stems.

A fading hydrangea.

Several grasses allowed to wander.

A branch turning burgundy.

Or perhaps one extraordinary flower that deserves to be noticed on its own.
